Danni & James’ Surprise wedding

On December 16th 2023, Cal and I had the pleasure of capturing one of the most unique weddings we’ve been to; Danni & James surprise wedding!

Danni & James decided to not have a ‘normal’ wedding but instead opted for a surprise wedding! Their guests were invited to their ‘engagement party’ at The Old Rectory House, but were surprised by the announcement that it was, in fact, their wedding day!!!
The day began with capturing Danni getting ready and all of the small details. We then captured some couple portraits of them in their ‘party’ outfits before they revealed the surprise. All four of us were so nervous while we waited for the guests to congregate outside the front of the venue, trying to make sure no-one bumped into the couple. Cal and I positioned ourselves ready for the reveal and Danni and James walked out and announced to all their friends and family that it was their wedding day. Everyone was shocked and excited, especially James’ mom who ran over to embrace James. After this, the couple went off to finish getting ready. Danni put on her dress with mom and James got his suit on. One of the most precious moments of the day was the reveal with Danni’s dad. He had the most wholesome reaction to seeing his daughter ready to be married!

It was then time for the ceremony in the Orangery followed by group photos and couple portraits outside.
Cal and I had the most lovely day capturing all of their moments, some of our favourites being the first look with Dannis dad, the surprise announcement, their couple portraits (especially the champagne spray!), James speech, the first dance and the father-daughter dance.
